Celebration of Judeo-Spanish 2019

Celebration of Judeo-Spanish (5).png

We are thrilled to announce the third Celebration of Judeo-Spanish in New York on Sunday, May 5, 2019! Judeo-Spanish, also know as Ladino, Judezmo, and Haketia, is the native language of Jewish communities from Greece, Turkey, the Balkans, and parts of North Africa. To help preserve this beautiful language for the next generation, the Sephardic Brotherhood has partnered with the Department of Judaic Studies at Binghamton University to create a day devoted to learning Judeo-Spanish and celebrating our common Sephardic culture. The Celebration is open to individuals of all ages and backgrounds and will include lectures from prominent Judeo-Spanish academics, Ladino Language Workshops, Sephardic community leaders, a Sephardic Community Panel, and our special Ora de Alegria (social hour).

Our Celebration of Judeo-Spanish in New York was a huge success! Nearly 75 people joined us for a series of history lectures, language seminars, our NY Sephardic Community Panel, and an Ora de Alegria with delicious Sephardic food, wine, music, and dancing. A special thank you to our partners at the Judaic Studies Department of the University of Binghamton and the Sephardic Jewish Center of Forest Hills for all their help in making this special day possible. We expect this year's event to be bigger and better than ever. Register now by clicking on the link below, email us at Office@Sephardicbrotherhood.com, or call 718-685-0080!
